Japanese tattoo
Japanese tattoos in the Vaucluse, in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Carpentras
Koi carp, geishas, samurai, chrysanthemums, waves and clouds: Japanese tattooing is one of the two favourite styles of Tof, tattoo artist since 1995 and manager of TATTOO ON MOVE. Every Japanese piece is drawn for you, based on your idea and the part of the body it is meant to adorn.
What makes a Japanese tattoo
- Motifs full of meaning: the carp swimming upstream, the dragon, the tiger, the snake, the geisha, the hannya mask, the peony or the chrysanthemum.
- A background that ties everything together: waves, wind, clouds and cherry blossom link the motifs together and make the piece hold as a whole.
- A piece that follows the body: the style lends itself to large areas, arm, leg, side or full back, and a large piece is built over several sessions.
- Colour or black and grey: both are done, depending on the motif and the effect wanted.

Who does it here
Tof has been tattooing for more than 30 years. He does a bit of everything, with a preference for Japanese and old school. He takes appointments in both tattoo shops: book with Tof in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue or in Carpentras.
How a Japanese project works
A first visit to the tattoo shop is necessary: you present your idea and your references, the tattoo artist looks at the placement, and together you estimate the price and the time to book. Quotes are not given by email.
The drawing starts after the deposit has been paid, at least 30% of the price of the tattoo, deducted from the price. It is shown to you on the day of the session, and changes are still possible. The minimum price for a tattoo is €80.

Frequently asked questions
Can I have a small Japanese tattoo?
Yes. A carp, a flower or a mask can fit on a forearm or a calf. The tattoo artist then adapts the motif and the background to the space available, so that the piece stays legible.
How many sessions for an arm or a back?
It depends on the size, the colour and the fineness of the drawing. The time to book is estimated together at the first appointment at the tattoo shop, once the tattoo artist has seen the project and the placement.
Can I continue or complete a Japanese tattoo that has already been started?
Come and show it to us at the tattoo shop: the tattoo artist will look at what exists and tell you what can be added.
What happens if I have to cancel?
The deposit is not refunded if the cancellation is made less than 48 hours before the appointment. So let us know as early as possible.
