The Ashley piercing is a labret located right in the middle of the lower lip.

When piercing, we will fit a straight piece of jewellery with a flat disc on the inside of the mouth and a ball on the outside. The bar is deliberately longer to allow for slight swelling of the area at the start of healing. The swelling does not usually appear straight away. So at first you need to be very careful not to catch the stem on your teeth, especially at mealtimes. Once the skin has swollen, the bar will be less bothersome. The area will then gradually go down until the bar becomes bothersome again. You then need to come back to the shop to swap the bar for a shorter one. This is possible from 10 days, but every skin heals at its own pace: your piercer will tell you when the time has come. This change lets you finish healing gently.

Healing an Ashley piercing generally takes 2 to 4 months, but the first 2 weeks are the most demanding. During this period, it is best to avoid food that is too hard, too hot or too spicy, and above all alcohol, which can increase the swelling. On the other hand, you can indulge in ice cream and cold drinks, which will soothe you and limit the swelling.

Once your piercing has healed, you can then, if you wish, change the jewellery. Most of our clients choose simple crystals, but we have all sorts of compatible jewellery in stock. We advise switching to a plastic stem after healing: it needs to be changed regularly, but it protects your teeth.

It is also very important to choose the right jewellery size to the millimetre for the best look and comfort, whether it is a ring or a straight piece. That is why we recommend having your first jewellery change at the shop.

It is a little more painful than the classic labret piercing, but it is also much more original!
