The rook piercing is fairly discreet from the front, but it makes an impression in profile!

In terms of pain, it is no more painful than any other cartilage piercing. It simply takes a little longer to pierce because the spot is not very accessible. But don't panic, it still only takes a few seconds.

Allow between 3 and 9 months for complete healing. Healing generally goes better than for most cartilage piercings because it is protected by the ear. It doesn't catch in your hair and most people will be able to sleep on it fairly quickly.

As for the jewellery, we will first fit a sterile titanium curved barbell, as in the photos. Once your piercing has healed, you can, if you wish, switch to a shorter curved barbell, 6 or 8 mm long depending on the shape of your ear and the effect you are after. Small 6 mm diameter rings also suit this piercing very well, especially if you add a little charm, which will look right at home in this spot.
