Check-up visit

Check-up visit

The most important stage in the piercing process is not the piercing itself, but the healing! That is why we offer free follow-up for all the piercings done at our tattoo shops.

We recommend coming in for a check-up visit if any of the following applies to you:

• You are having problems during healing: jewellery that has become too tight because of excessive swelling, a bump forming under the piercing, a healing time that is unusually long compared with what you were told when you were pierced, the piercing shifting, or any other problem or doubt you may have.
• The pierced area has gone down well and the stem of the jewellery sticks out by at least 2 mm: it is then time to reduce the size of your jewellery to make the end of healing easier (the right moment depends on the piercing: from 10 days for the mouth, about 2 months for cartilage, 6 months for the navel; your piercer will tell you).

A simple check-up visit can sometimes let you finish healing a piercing in a few days instead of several months! So don't hesitate: if you have a problem or a doubt, come and see us.

The downsize

The downsize, that is, reducing the length of the jewellery during healing, is one of the most important factors for a piercing to heal properly.

When piercing, we fit jewellery with a long bar, to leave room for the swelling that occurs at the start of healing. Once the swelling has gone down, it is important to reduce the length of the jewellery so that healing finishes properly. This is included in the price of your piercing: you will have nothing to pay!

The check-up visit is strongly recommended to complete your healing properly. Depending on your piercing, it takes place between 10 days and 6 months after piercing: we will give you the date to stick to according to the pierced area.
