Double helix

The double helix is two helix piercings stacked on the rim of the ear. The helix is often doubled, or even tripled.

The piercing is a little painful but extremely quick. As with most cartilage piercings, healing is where it gets complicated: allow between 3 and 9 months for complete healing. It is recommended not to sleep on the piercing throughout healing, to avoid slowing it down and making the piercing drift out of line. So choose to have it done on the ear you sleep on least!

For healing, we will fit a straight piece of jewellery with a ball. You will have a choice of 3 models:

• implant-grade titanium jewellery with a set crystal
• gold anodised implant-grade titanium jewellery
• implant-grade titanium jewellery, with or without crystal

The placement will be chosen with you, because this piercing can be done at different heights: quite high on the ear (the most common placement) but also lower. It all depends on what you prefer!

Once your piercing has healed, you will be able to change the jewellery. You will then be able to choose:

• straight jewellery: many straight pieces are compatible with the helix. Be careful with the double helix: pieces that are too large are not compatible because they overlap!
• rings: the diameter has to suit the shape of your ear, and we are here to advise you on sizes.

To sum up, the double helix is a piercing that takes a little patience to heal but lets you wear plenty of different jewellery in a variety of styles!
