Contra-Conch Piercing
Contra-conch
Contra-conch
The contra-conch is a very uncommon piercing of the ear cartilage.
Like all cartilage piercings, it takes a little patience during the healing process. The piercing is done with a straight piece of jewellery with a long stem to allow for slight swelling at the start of healing. The length of the stem then needs to be reduced after 2 to 4 months for optimal healing. Complete healing generally takes 3 to 12 months.
The exact placement of the piercing, as well as the choice of jewellery, will depend largely on the shape of your ear. People with a flat area can wear larger pieces. For people with little or no flat area, small pieces are best, or pieces with pendants, which look particularly good in this area. Finally, we advise against this piercing for people whose ears are very curved in this area.
It is possible to create a composition of several contra-conch piercings following one another vertically, to highlight the curve of the ear.
