Aftercare and healing

We declare that we have practised our art in compliance with the regulations in force, in particular regarding health and safety, and that we have used sterile, single-use equipment.

OUR WORK IS DONE, YOURS BEGINS...

Whether it's a tattoo or a piercing:
Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching it.
Follow the instructions below carefully to ensure optimal healing and prevent infection.

HOW TO LOOK AFTER YOUR TATTOO

Looking after your tattoo properly is crucial
Follow these instructions carefully to ensure optimal healing and prevent infection.
Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your tattoo.
Gently remove your dressing between 2 and 48 hours after the end of the session.
(12 hours maximum for "basic" or "cellophane" dressings).
If it resists, don't force it: soak the dressing with lukewarm water.
Gently clean the area with lukewarm water without soap, or with a pH-neutral soap.
Dry gently by patting with a clean towel or kitchen paper.
DO NOT RUB.
Apply a thin layer of tattoo cream 2 to 3 times a day.
(a healing or repairing cream can also be used).
During the first nights, take care of your clothes and your sheets.
Your tattoo is likely to "bleed" ink, which is completely normal.
Keep soap and shampoo off your tattoo when you shower.
Throughout the healing period, baths, the sea and swimming pools are forbidden.
The same goes for saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, etc...
You can still take a shower to wash.
Small flakes of dead skin or "scabs" will form during healing,
do not touch or remove them: they will come off on their own.
If it itches
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT SCRATCH
(when it itches, it means it's healing).
Avoid touching the area with dirty hands during the day.
Protect it from dust and dirt (animal hair, cement...).
Opt for loose cotton clothing so your tattoo can breathe.
Be careful with belts and bra straps.
Do not expose it to the sun or UV rays throughout the healing period.
(1 month minimum).
1 month later, we offer you a check-up visit to check the healing.
If your tattoo artist asks you to come back for touch-ups, do it!
They are included in the price and will guarantee an optimal result over time.
Applying moisturiser and protecting the tattoo with SPF 50 sun cream once it has healed can improve the final result and help your tattoo age well.

Following these instructions = the best chance of getting a beautiful, healthy tattoo.
Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any doubts or notice signs of infection.

Respecting our work by looking after your tattoo is the best proof of your satisfaction.

HOW TO LOOK AFTER YOUR PIERCING

Aftercare for your piercing must begin on the same day.
Many infectious complications can be avoided if this aftercare is done properly.

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

To limit the risk of infection, absolutely avoid touching your piercing outside of aftercare, and never with dirty hands.
Do not sleep on the piercing.
Avoid baths, swimming pools, the sea, saunas, the beach and the sun until it has fully healed.
Avoid knocks: violent sports, especially combat sports, and thrill rides.
Beware of clothes that are too tight and of snagging when you get undressed.
Beware of glasses, helmets, earphones and a phone pressed against the jewellery.
No make-up on or around the piercing.
Always wash your hands before handling the piercing to clean it.
Be gentle and avoid any trauma.
Never remove the jewellery or turn it to do your aftercare, and throughout the whole healing period.
For external care, use a pH-neutral soap.
Clean once or twice a day, removing any dry, clumped residue around the piercing.
Rinse well with saline solution, then dry with a clean towel or a sterile compress, taking care not to snag it. A cotton bud can be used if necessary.
For oral piercings, use an alcohol-free mouthwash after meals, 2 to 3 times a day at most.
For 7 to 10 days: eat liquid, cold or lukewarm food; no alcohol, vinaigrette, strong spices, acidic or very hot food.
Smoking and vaping are not recommended during healing.
Favour yoghurts, compotes, ice cream and lukewarm/cold soups.
No oral-genital contact for 3 weeks.

THE STAGES OF HEALING

It is normal to see an inflammatory reaction (redness and sometimes swelling) in the days after the jewellery is fitted; however, these symptoms should disappear quickly.
If you have any doubt or a problem, book a “check-up visit” with a piercer before removing the jewellery.
Symptoms that persist or get worse, or at least three of the following signs together: erythema (redness), oedema (swelling), pain, increased local heat or fever, and a purulent or foul-smelling discharge, indicate the presence of an infection.
You should see a doctor if the symptoms are too severe: excessive pain, fever, and swelling that spreads to the whole area and not just around the piercing.

USUAL HEALING TIMES

  • Ear lobes: 2 to 4 months (about 2 months for a first lobe, more like 4 for the following ones; transverse lobe: 3 to 6 months)
  • Ear cartilage: 3 to 9 months (anti-tragus, snug and contra-conch: 3 to 12 months; industrial: 3 to 12 months)
  • Nostril: 2 to 6 months; septum: 2 to 4 months
  • Labret, monroe, madonna, snake bites: 2 months; vertical labret, jestrum, angel bites, medusa, ashley: 2 to 4 months
  • Eyebrow: 2 to 4 months
  • Tongue, venom, smiley, marley: 1 to 2 months
  • Bridge: 3 to 6 months
  • Surface piercings: 2 to 4 months (christina: 2 to 9 months)
  • Nipples: 3 to 6 months
  • Navel and inverse navel: 6 to 12 months
  • Intimate piercings: 2 to 4 months
  • Microdermal: 2 to 4 months

These are averages: every body heals at its own pace, and depending on your metabolism and your state of health, healing may be a little faster or a little slower.
