Marco Leoni, guest tattoo artist, master of engraving

We are honoured to welcome a piece of tattoo history. Marco Leoni has been tattooing since 1974. He is the one who trained Tof, founder of TATTOO ON MOVE, in Madagascar in the 1990s. A specialist in the engraving style, he comes as a guest to our two tattoo shops in the Vaucluse, in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Carpentras.

A tattoo legend since 1974

A great traveller, tattoo pioneer and artist with a true hippie soul, Marco Leoni is today a legend among tattoo artists. He has tattooed in many countries, including Brazil, Italy, Argentina and Madagascar.

He now works in his tattoo shop in Tunisia, @sidibou_tattoonails.

Tof's master

The story between Marco Leoni and TATTOO ON MOVE begins in Madagascar in the 1990s: that is where Marco trained Tof. Before the brand and before our two tattoo shops in the Vaucluse, there was this handing down from master to student. Each of Marco's visits to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue or Carpentras extends this bond of more than thirty years.

The engraving style

Engraving is based on lines only: no filling and no solid areas, but fine, tightly spaced strokes that give an old-world effect, in the manner of woodcut or copper engravings.
