## Labret

Labret refers to the piercings located below the mouth:

the centred labret, below the mouth and centred on the face

the offset labret, below the mouth on the right or left side

When piercing, we will fit a straight piece of jewellery with a flat disc on the inside of the mouth and a ball on the outside. The bar is deliberately longer to allow for slight swelling of the area at the start of healing. The swelling does not usually appear straight away. So at first you need to be very careful not to catch the bar on your teeth, especially at mealtimes. Once the skin has swollen, the bar will be less bothersome. The area will then gradually go down until the bar becomes bothersome again. You then need to come back to the shop to have the bar replaced with a shorter one. This is possible from 10 days, but every skin heals at its own pace: your piercer will tell you when the time has come. This change will let you finish healing smoothly.

Allow about 2 months for a labret piercing to heal, but the first 2 weeks are the most demanding. During this period, it is best to avoid eating anything too hard, too hot or too spicy, and above all alcohol, which can increase the swelling. On the other hand, you can indulge in ice cream and cold drinks, which will soothe you and limit the swelling.

another straight piece of jewellery: most of our customers choose simple crystals, but we have all kinds of compatible jewellery in stock. We recommend switching to a plastic bar after healing: it needs to be changed regularly, but it protects your teeth

a ring: again, many choose basics, but the choice is wide!

a horseshoe: the famous open ring with two balls, which looks particularly good on a labret piercing

Before piercing, we will always ask whether you want to wear rings afterwards, so we can choose a placement that lets the ring sit as close to the lip as possible.

It is also very important to choose the right jewellery size to the millimetre for the best look and comfort, whether it is a ring or a straight piece. That is why we recommend that you have your first jewellery change at the shop.Be careful, too, not to get this piercing on impulse, because it leaves small scars that can be irreversible if the piercing has been worn for many years.

That is why we take the time to choose and test the placement with you, with small dots made with a marker pen, so that your piercing suits your taste and shows off your face.

To sum up, the labret piercing instantly adds a touch of style to your face, provided, of course, that you are careful at the start of healing.

Once your piercing has healed, you will be able, if you wish, to change the jewellery and choose:
